General e-Book FAQs
Q: Are all of the print books in the library also available as e-books?
A: No, though we have thousands of e-books. There are many books that we have only in print, and many others that we have only electronically.
Q: Why can’t I find the book I want in electronic format?
A: Many books are only available in print format because the publisher hasn’t published an electronic version. Others are available electronically elsewhere, but the library either hasn't purchased it or can’t at the moment, because our vendors don't sell it or because the book is too expensive or isn't appropriate for our collection.
Q: Can I request that the library purchase a particular e-book?
A: You can make a request (see here), though often we will NOT be able to fulfill it, for many of the same reasons above.
Q: Why can’t I print or copy the entire book?
A: Copyright law prevents the copying of an entire book in most circumstances. Many publishers also restrict the amount you can print or copy. Different databases will come with different restrictions.
Introduction to e-Books
The AUC Library provides access to thousands of electronic books (called e-books) to the AUC community. Our e-book collections are accessible on and off campus, 24 hours a day.
Our e-books are contained in the databases:
You may follow these links to search inside any of these databases. However, we recommend that you access them all at once through our online catalog.
We provide video tutorials to help you find and read our e-books. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask at the Help Desk.
